26 May Ngoma-Nanzhila Plains. Zambia.

On this day we had the mission of picking a new volunteer at Lusaka airport. Rita just arrived from London after her University exams. Perfectly on time, all of us reached Zambia Capital just in time to see Rita's airplane land.
Quick lunch and we took off to a magnificent flight between Blue Lagoon National Park and Lochinvar National Park.
A blossom green, shines between pitch dark water ponds.
The sun was fading behind the horizon when the last plane ceased its engine roar.

Nanzhila Plains Lodge Owner and staff waited for us with a light snack and warm coffee at the airstrip. We didn't know yet but we would need all the comfort we could get. Ahead was a two hour drive of bumps and humps on top of an opened Land Cruiser. Temperature, not more than five degrees Celsius. We where all in proper African short sleeves.

A fire at the Lodge gave us back the energy to appreciate the best meal I had. The desert was absolute heaven.

On the next morning we went to Chief Shezongo village. This part of the journey was scarce in animal spotting, mainly due to the huge amount of available water.  On the other hand was magnificent in terms of anchievement and human contact.

The Nanzhila basic school hosts 300 hundred students in not more than 100 square meters. No paper or pen. Available space in old used newspapers is used for the classroom notes.
Our paper and pen was a real gift, the crayons gave color to grey images. This was for me a powerful experience.
